Kendall Jenner’s Pepsi Ad Met With Backlash

Update: Pepsi has pulled the ad and apologized to Jenner.

“Pepsi was trying to project a global message of unity, peace and understanding. Clearly, we missed the mark and apologize,” the company said in a statement on Wednesday, New York Times reported. “We did not intend to make light of any serious issue. We are pulling the content and halting any further rollout.”

Pepsi is saving the world, one can of soda at a time.

A new commercial featuring model and reality star Kendall Jenner was released Tuesday and the backlash has already started.

The two minutes ad follows Jenner as she drops her modeling gig to join a protest and stands up to the police to say- well, that is unclear. Maybe to ‘Drink Pepsi?’

Throughout the video, it cuts to scenes of a Muslim woman who seems pretty angry at her photo project and a sweaty musician who happens to take a shower between scenes. All the while, people are eating brunch and break dancing as an exuberant protest walks down the street.

Jenner joins, because how could you say no to this nod:

Uh oh, here comes the police, and they do not look happy.

Don’t worry, they all join together when Jenner solves the political and societal crisis by handing the police a Pepsi. The world rejoices.
