JACK’S CRIME BLOTTER
A Florida man wearing a mop on his head is in a bucket of trouble. Port St. Lucie Police say 58-year-old James Field was wearing a mop on his head as a mask when he went banging on a neighbor’s door looking for an egg. What ensued terrorized the neighboring family last week. When the neighbor opened the door and didn’t recognize or understand Fields, he closed and locked the door. Fields continued knocking with the mop handle and threw in some doorbell ringing. Police say he “terrorized” the family. Fields explained he only went to the neighbor to get an egg to make a cake, but didn’t explain the mop. He was jailed on nine-thousand-dollars-bail for disturbing the peace.
A Kansas bank robber wants prison time to avoid his wife. Seventy-year-old Lawrence Ripple robbed a Kansas City bank last year and told officials he did it to get away from his wife. Records show he handed a note to a teller, was given more than two-thousand-dollars and then took a seat in the lobby to wait for his arrest. Ripple says he wrote the note in front of his wife and told her his intentions before leaving. His wife went with him to his court date this week as he entered a guilty plea and was released on bond. He will be sentenced by a judge in the future.
