Our local rocker with worldwide celebrity status, Geoff Tate,  is fighting for the rights to his band’s name, Queensryche.

Geoff was ousted from Queensryche last year, and has been in a legal battle with his former bandmates over the Queensryche name ever since. However, when appearing on the on-line program, “The Classic Metal Show,” Tate said, the matter has “nothing to do with music” but it’s created publicity, “which Queensryche hasn’t had in years.”  He adds that he’s had “more sellouts on this Queensryche run” than the band “has had in ten years,” which he attributes to the publicity.

Tate’s former bandmates still bill themselves as Queensryche, too. Tate’s shows are called ‘Geoff Tate and Queensryche.’ Both sides have been allowed to use the name until ownership of the name is established at a hearing in November.
