Ozzy Osbourne is denying that his marriage is over — and admitting that he’s been struggling with his sobriety.
In a Facebook post Monday the Black Sabbath frontman confessed that he’s fallen off the wagon, and that for the past 18 months he’d been “drinking and taking drugs” again. He explains that he “was in a very dark place” and hasn’t been very good to his loved ones. But the rocker says he’s now “44 days sober.”
Ozzy adds that he wants to “set the record straight” regarding the rumors that his marriage to Sharon is in jeopardy. He says they “are not divorcing,” and he’s “just trying to be a better person.” Ozzy adds his regrets for his substance abuse relapse. He’s extending an apology to Sharon and the rest of his family, as well as to his friends, bandmates, and fans for his “insane behavior during this period.”
Osbourne’s remarks follow reports that he and Sharon had split up, and are no longer living together. Ozzy and Sharon’s son Jack as well as Sharon’s rep have both denied that the couple have separated. The spokesperson indirectly confirmed that Ozzy and Sharon weren’t living together, but said it had to do with their work. Sharon’s many commitments include co-hosting CBS’ “The Talk,” while Ozzy has been recording a new album with Black Sabbath and prepping for the band’s tour. The trek begins in Auckland, New Zealand on Saturday.
The rep adds that “Sharon and Ozzy have spent long periods of time apart before when she was working in the UK.” The couple’s son Jack has also shot down reports that his parents’ marriage is in trouble, tweeting on Sunday that “a lot of British newspapers weren’t amazing sources of accurate information.”
Both the UK’s “Sun” and “Daily Mail” as well as TMZ.com are citing sources who claim Ozzy and Sharon are living apart not for work reasons but because they’ve separated. The British papers add that both Ozzy and Sharon have been seen recently without their wedding rings. The UK press also says Sharon was spotted earlier this month moving furniture and other items out of the couple’s Beverly Hills home.
