On Friday night, the Mariners celebrated one of their greatest players with a grand party. All hands were on deck to retire Ken Griffey, Jr.’s number 24.

In attendance: Seahawks Cortez Kennedy and Steve Largent, Sonics Spencer Haywood and Gary Payton. Baseball giants Rickey Henderson and Tony Perez. With video messages: Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, Kobe Bryant and Jeff Gordon. And, Mariners president Kevin Mather announced plans to unveil a statue of Ken Griffey, Jr. outside Safeco Field next year.
