You know what they always say: “You keep throwing that thing around and somebody’s gonna get hurt!”

Pearl Jam bass player Jeff Ament went ahead and engaged in a friendly game of basketball with some fans while the group was in New Zealand for The Big Day Out festival last week. The fan, Sherif Hassan, says the rough game was ‘worth it,’ even while walking away with a broken nose from the once in a lifetime sporting event.

Hassan told Australia’s Triple J radio says that Ament broke his nose during the pick-up game in New Zealand, which also included Arcade Fire’s Win Butler.

Hassan said Ament made up for the broken nose by giving him and some friends tickets to the event and even some backstage passes. Dude even got to meet Lorde – the spicey pop star with the big hit, “Royals.” His pain was further abated when he got a  shout out from Eddie Vedder during Pearl Jam’s performance.
