Record Store Day (April 20): Jimi Hendrix Vinyl and Remastered Aerosmith

King Crimson, Aerosmith, Hendrix Offering Special Record Store Day Discs
Special releases from King Crimson, Aerosmith, and Jimi Hendrix will be among the offerings at next month’s Record Store Day. (April 20th) UltimateClassicRock says “Going Schizoid with King Crimson” will feature ten live tracks, with material dating back to the late 1960s. The oldest cut is a performance of “I Talk To The Wind” from 1969, and three songs are from 1972 performances. The album leads off with “21st Century Schizoid Man,” which was recorded in New York’s Central Park in 1974. The most recent cut is “Seizure,” from a San Francisco date in 1998. “Going Schizoid” will be packaged with a graphic novel based on “The Vicar Chronicles” along with a t-shirt, poster, and stickers featuring artwork from “In the Court of the Crimson King.”

Aerosmith is putting out remastered editions of their first three albums on 12-inch, 180-gram vinyl for the occasion. A vinyl Hendrix disc is also on the way. The mono mix of “Hey Joe” backed with “Stone Free” will be available as a seven-inch, 45-rpm disc. The single was originally released as the Jimi Hendrix Experience’s first UK single back in 1966. Record Store Day, which celebrates the independent record retailer, is coming up on April 20th.
