Rumors abound on whether or not ex-Velvet Revolver and Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland will be rejoining Velvet Revolver. In a new interview with ABC News Radio, Weiland said he’s back in the rock supergroup, which includes former Guns N’ Roses members Slash, Matt Sorum and Duff McKagan.

“We’ve all grown a lot,” Weiland said, adding that he’s going to do some Velvet Revolver shows in late summer or early fall. “We’re able to put egos and differences and old conflicts aside and so that’s really cool.”

But once Slash heard this news, he didn’t hesitate to call Weiland “out of his mind.” Slash made it clear that Velvet Revolver has no intention of retreading old territory, especially after Weiland left the band in 2008 citing “ego and jealousy.”

“He did not say that – he’s out of his mind,” Slash said in disbelief, to radio station
. “There’s been a common rumor going around, I know that he’s been positive on that subject.” When grilled further on the possibility of Weiland’s return to singing duties, Slash said, “We have no intention of going backwards.”

Maybe McKagan, Slash and Sorum could get their buddy Billie Joe Armstrong, Green Day frontman, to lend vocals to Velvet Revolver. McKagan recently revealed that he and Armstrong “devised a plan” for Armstrong to front Guns N’ Roses at the band’s recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, should he have to.
While he did not have to, Green Day induct GNR into the Rock Hall last month.
