Pixies frontman Frank Black and his wife, Violet Clark, will release their second album as the band Grand Duchy in early April. According to SPIN Grand Duchy “make a whole bunch of direct allusions to Andy Warhol in Silver Boys, the propulsive, synth-buzzing advance track from their upcoming second album” titled Let the People Speak.

FrankBlack.net reports the new album Let The People Speak “meanders sonically between Petit Fours and solo Black Francis records with occasional forays into more uncharted territory for the duo.” SPIN reviews the upcoming video saying, “the Silver Boys clip drives home the Warhol connection even further, featuring Black and Clark amid Warhol-style imagery, Warhol quotes, and plenty of hedonistic scenes worthy of the artist’s old Factory stomping grounds.”

A press release for the album explains Grand Duchy is in a more adventurous mood this time around, arguing that their debut LP Petit Fours was just a primer for the real action. “My motto for this record was ‘if Petit Fours was missionary, Let the People Speak needs to be doggy style” Clark said. Frank Black adds, “Let the People Speak has more confidence. For Violet, the confidence of finding one’s voice; for me, the confidence to become submissive. This record was definitely more about slamming it in.”
