Noel Gallagher thinks the band reunion most fans would like to see isn’t his band.with his brother Oasis. Noel thinks The Smiths should reunite. Australia’s Sky News reports Noel “is a massive fan of the iconic 80s indie band and though frontman Morrissey and guitarist Johnny Marr have always maintained they won’t get back together, Noel is still holding out hope.”
Gallagher told NME he can see why people are skeptical about the chances of a Smiths reunion, but he notes similar thoughts were held about the possibility of The Stone Roses and Led Zeppelin reuniting. Noel says of The Stone Roses reunion tour, “I’m happy for them, it’s great for the fans. It’s going to be great, what can I say?”
While there’s no official movement to get Morrissey and Marr to patch up their differences, Noel could end up acting as peacemaker between the Manchester legends. It’s unlikely the members of The Smiths will be seeking each other out, but who knows what could happen if an interested third party like Noel gets involved.
