Stone Roses To Ride Reunion Tour “Until The Wheels Fall Off”

The Stone Roses announced all four members have reunited and plan to ride a reunion tour “until the wheels fall off” in the words of singer Ian Brown.  Billboard.com reports Brown, guitarist John Squire, bassist Gary ‘Mani’ Mounfield and drummer Alan ‘Reni’ Wren – were present at a packed press conference in Central London’s Soho Hotel where the Stone Roses confirmed they will embark on a worldwide tour beginning with two shows in Manchester in June of 2012.

At the press conference, the band also said that there is a good chance of the Stone Roses playing and releasing new material, although Brown warned the audience: “We hope so. But we said that before, didn’t we?” And turning the band’s famous 1989 song I Am The Resurrection into foreshadowing,  Brown told the assembled journalists: “This is a live resurrection, and you’re invited, so you better be there.”

The Stone Roses frontman did reveal the band had “previously received a number of highly lucrative offers to reform but had always vetoed the idea.”  Squire told Billboard ”Everything changed when me and Ian started seeing each other again,”  The long-running feud between the guitarist and Brown was reportedly settled when the two met at the funeral of Mani’s mother earlier this year.  This time for The Stone Roses, it’s not about the money, with Brown noting ”In times like this you can uplift people,”  When asked at the press conference how long the reunion tour will last, Brown told the audience “We’ll ride it until the wheels fall off.”
