Joan Jett and The Blackhearts, Heart, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Guns ‘N Roses, The Cure and The Beastie Boys lead the 2012 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Nominees. Donovan, Eric B. & Rakim, Freddie King, Laura Nyro, Rufus with Chaka Khan, The Small Faces/The Faces, The Spinners, Donna Summer and War wrap up the list of 2012 nominees. reports, “the 2012 Nominees embody the broad scope of what ‘rock and roll’ means,” said Joel Peresman, President and CEO of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. “From vocal groups to hip hop, from singer-songwriters to hard rocking artists, this group represents the spirit of what we celebrate at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.” Now comes the voting where ballots will be sent to more than 500 voters to select artists to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2012 class. To be eligible for nomination, an artist or band must have released its first single or album at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination, so the 2012 Nominees had to release their first recording no later than 1986.

The 27th annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held in Cleveland on Saturday, April 14, 2012. Leading up to the ceremony, the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Museum will host 10 days of special events, including the grand opening of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s new Library and Archives.
