[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Alice Cooper[/lastfm] wants a Led Zeppelin reunion as much as all their millions of fans. He can’t believe Robert Plant is holding the band back.

Cooper recently talked to the Palm Springs Examiner at a celebrity golf tournament, and when the topic came up he ripped Robert Plant for his recent comments regarding a potential Led Zeppelin reunion.

In case you missed it, Plant said in a recent interview that he was getting too old to play Led Zeppelin songs. Cooper rejected the notion, saying the band ought to be able to play their songs despite aging.

“They are just standing there,” Cooper said. “What is so hard? Jimmy Page wants to do it. John Paul Jones wants to do it. And they got [John] Bonham’s son, who is a killer drummer.

“All they need is Robert Plant. But what is Robert Plant out there doing? Playing folk music! What is he doing?”

The “folk music” Cooper speaks of is Plant’s new solo album Band of Joy, released last year to critical acclaim and modest commercial success.

Plant’s latest solo venture is taking a physical and mental toll on him, as he doubts there will ever be another Led Zeppelin reunion as he and the band rapidly approach old age.

Perhaps he will take Cooper’s remarks as a kick in the rear to get one last Led Zeppelin reunion going…
