[lastfm]Gov’t Mule[/lastfm] frontman and [lastfm]Allman Brothers Band[/lastfm] touring guitarist Warren Haynes is preparing to release his first solo album in 19 years this May. In an interview with Spinner, the guitarist said, “It’s a record of soul music, original material, that harkens back to my first influences before I discovered rock ‘n’ roll, which was soul music mixed with blues… It’s taken this amount of time to feel like the right time to put it out where the audience would get it. It’s a record I wanted to make for a long, long time.”

The album is being tentatively titled Man in Motion, and is being recorded with a different set of musicians than Haynes usually plays with. “It’s got [lastfm]Ivan Neville[/lastfm], Ian McLagan from the [lastfm]Faces[/lastfm] on keyboards, George Porter Jr. on bass, Raymond Weber on drums,” Haynes told Spinner. “It’s all New Orleans-type cats except for myself and Ian McLagan.” The [lastfm]Gov’t Mule[/lastfm] frontman has also recently released an album, Live at Bonnaroo, featuring his performance at the annual Tennessee music festival. Aside from finishing Man in Motion, [lastfm]Warren Haynes[/lastfm] is also busy preparing for a 13-night stand at the Beacon Theatre in New York with the [lastfm]Allman Brothers Band[/lastfm].
